Chronicles of a Resilient Woman-November
"There is nothing like staying at home, for real comfort." Jane Austen
You Can Go Home as Many Times as Your Heart Needs
November is a month of transition, it is where fall exhales, winter approaches, gratitude deepens, and the year invites its final reflection. This November, I found myself stepping into a different kind of season—a season of returning and reflecting. For twenty days, I traveled through three states, braved blistering temperatures, navigated airports, highways, and carried with me one intention:
To go home.
To celebrate.
To reconnect.
To breathe.
To receive.
As I boarded that plane in Fort Lauderdale, gratitude wrapped itself around me. “To say I am grateful would be an understatement of the century.”

A Month Filled With Moments That Matter : Watching My Son Walk in His Calling
Sitting front row at my son’s ministry celebration reminded me that purpose is generational. His confidence, his growth, his courage, it filled me with joy only a mother can describe.
Sitting With My Mother: Receiving Love Without Resistance
Coming home can be both comforting and challenging. Sometimes our parents still see us as children even when we’ve grown into women who lead, advise, serve, and carry communities on our backs.
I felt that tension rising until the Holy Spirit whispered:
“Allow your mother to love you in her way.”
So I did.
If she wanted to give me 99 outfits, I received them.
If she rubbed lotion on my back, I let her.
If she wanted to wash my clothes, I humbled myself and allowed it.
We worshipped together.
We prayed.
We laughed over silly things.
We simply enjoyed being mother and daughter.
There was healing in that gentleness.
There was restoration in that surrender.

Holding Space for My Cousin’s Health Journey
I spent intentional time with my cousin, who is navigating a major health challenge.
It wasn’t about fixing just being present.
Presence is a form of love.
Presence is a form of advocacy.
Presence is a form of ministry.
Conversations That Strengthened Me
My uncle shared pieces of his entrepreneurial journey stories filled with wisdom, grit, and the reminder that strength and servant leadership runs in my lineage.
My sister grounded me with laughter.
My closest friends embraced me with familiarity.
My counseling pastor offered clarity and a spiritual reset and Pastor Steve delivered a timely message about blessings that wrapped itself around my heart like a coat.
Every interaction poured something into me.
“This November didn’t just fill my cup, it reminded me who poured into me first.”

Why Going Home Was Healing
Truthfully?
I was stressed before I left. How would the cold impact my body? Would I experience vertigo or migraine, and I wondered how I would navigate the old dynamics that arise when you’re back in your childhood home. The months leading up to November had been filled with moments where I felt off balance and weary.
But going home wasn't perfection it was restorative.
It reminded me that:
• Resilience is nurtured through relationships
• Strength is sustained through connection
• Healing sometimes looks like letting yourself be cared for
Every person I saw whether for a few minutes or several days played a role in shaping the woman, mother, leader, and advocate I am.
This month renewed my foundation.
Three Lessons November Placed on My Heart
1. You can go home as many times as your heart needs.
Home is belonging, memory, grounding, and grace not a physical location.
2. Sometimes resilience is receiving, not pushing.
Letting someone love you in their way is an act of faith and humility.
3. Foundations matter.
Return to the people and places that built you because they still hold power.
Returning Renewed
As I returned to Florida, my heart felt anchored, my spirit felt clearer and my purpose felt steadier.
This November reminded me:
I am supported! I am not alone! I am held! I am guided! I am loved!
If you are reading this, I hope it reminds you that you can return to the place that grounds you, makes you feel like home, a gives your heart a place to rest.
News Flash! Home isn’t a destination.
It’s a feeling.
It’s a foundation.
It’s a return to yourself.
