Chronicles of a Resilient Woman - The Becoming: Pain, Power, and Progress
 @ Ms. Irons Sharpens

This month began with quiet clarity. As I reflected on the last quarter, it became clear that focus not hustle was the key to forward momentum. I decided to apply the Pareto Principle to both life and business: prioritizing the few things that deliver the most impact and gently releasing what no longer serves my purpose. That shift cleared space physically, mentally, and emotionally.

One of the first places I re-engaged with intention was social media. Instead of outsourcing or avoiding it, I leaned in. I began designing graphics and curating content that reflects the mission of Irons Consulting Group and the heart behind my work. It’s been refreshing to create again from a place of authenticity.

Health-wise, my treatment at the DISC Center has continued. What started with neck decompression has expanded after a deeper review of my records revealed that my lower back also requires care. A recent lumbar MRI confirmed multiple bulging discs, with L1 through L4 showing promise for treatment. L5, however, presents with some fusion—a likely genetic factor. The process has been sobering, but the improvement in my sleep and reduction in pain give me hope. The neck treatment is nearly complete, and for that, I’m truly grateful.

Therapy this month brought an unexpected breakthrough. In one session, I heard myself say: I’m proud of who I’m becoming. That statement landed with weight and warmth because years of internal work are finally producing external peace. The boldness, charisma, and willingness to take risks were never gone; they were simply buried under years of survival mode. Now, they’re beginning to shine again.

I also showed up more intentionally in my professional community, attending two networking events aligned with my values and interests. At Network & Chill, surrounded by entrepreneurial women, I felt reinvigorated. The energy, and the synergy sparked focus and productivity I hadn’t felt in weeks.

But chronic illness doesn’t pause for progress. I experienced a level 7 migraine this month that left me in a fog of pain and confusion. At the same time, I was navigating unexplained breakouts that no one seems to understand. After multiple creams, a patch test, and steroids, the recommended next step was a medication that even after insurance approval came with a co-pay that was simply too much. That moment was deeply defeating not just because of the skin condition itself, but because of the layers of disruption it added to my life and work.

During two conversations, I received comments that shook me: one person said I “seemed irritable.” Another declared, “You’re healed from migraine.” But saying those words out loud doesn’t make them true—especially if it’s not God’s plan. What if healing never comes on this side of eternity? I even wondered: Maybe I was being too sensitive. These questions made me wrestle with faith, identity, and expectation.

The Apostle Paul’s “thorn in the flesh” kept coming to mind. Despite his strength, leadership, and spiritual insight, he too wrestled with something ongoing and unexplained. He pleaded for it to be removed and yet, it remained. I’ve often wondered if migraine is my thorn not a punishment, but a place where grace is made visible a reminder that even in weakness, I am still called, still capable, and still chosen.

Later, during a strategy conversation, I was asked a seemingly simple question: What feeling do you actually sell through ICG? At first, I gave a surface-level answer. But after much reflection, I knew the truth: I sell trust, restored dignity, agency, and clarity—especially in the often-disconnected relationships between patients, providers, and health systems. This clarity is a powerful anchor for my mission.

This month made me laugh, cry, pause, and produce. It reminded me that healing isn’t linear, and purpose isn’t paused by pain. Becoming is rarely tidy—but it is always worth it.
